summa cum laude from York University and from Hebrew Union College—Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati where he was ordained in 1977.
A product of the Reform youth and camping movements, Rabbi Strom has maintained a strong involvement in youth and education programming. He also has an abiding interest in and concern for supporting Jewish families. To this end, he studied in and graduated from a four-year course of study in individual and family therapy at the University of Pennsylvania and is presently certified as a marriage and family therapist by and is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT.)
Rabbi Strom has recently had an article included in a new book, The Mitzvah of Healing, and has also been published in the Journal of Reform Judaism (CCAR Journal) and is a frequent contributor to numerous publications including American Rabbi magazine, the Jewish Exponent, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Inside magazine. He currently serves on the Commission on Lifelong Jewish Learning of the Union for Reform Judaism. He has served on the Board of Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia and on its Executive Board and on the Board of Directors of the Jewish Publishing Group which oversees The Jewish Exponent and Inside magazine.
He has been a regular participant as well as chair of the Newtown Ministerium, a member of the Board of Directors of Planned Parenthood, participant in local commissions from the Woods Schools, Bucks County Community College and has been active in local charitable work, including efforts on behalf of the Red Cross Homeless Shelter. Rabbi Strom has also served as chair of the Delaware Valley Association of Reform Rabbis.
Rabbi Strom loves to preach, teach, study, sing, pray, program, counsel and be spiritual leader of this vibrant, creative and loving congregation.
His life is especially blessed by his wonderful, 30+ years marriage to Susan and by their children, Adam and Jess and Joshua and by his special joy, his grandchildren, Emma and Justin.
