Shir Ami

Shir Ami History
Shir Ami Foyer
Shir Ami came into existence in January, 1976, to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Jewish population of Lower Bucks County. We found our first home at the George School Meetinghouse and school buildings. Our numbers had grown to over 100 families by 1979, the year in which we broke ground on our first building and engaged our first Rabbi, Elliot M. Strom.

Our original synagogue structure was completed for the High Holy Days of 1980. In recent years, we have added to the strengths of the congregation with a vastly-expanded program of worship, education and community involvement, led by Cantor/Bar-Bat Mitzvah Director, Mark Elson, and Assistant Rabbi, Yair Robinson, Executive Director, Hilary Leboff, Pre-school Director, Barbara Cohen, Youth Director, Ferne Levy, and Program Director - Bar/Bat Mitzvah Coordinator, Beverly Goldberg.

Between 1987 and 1988, we completed our long-awaited new sanctuary, social hall, office complex and school wing to meet our expanding needs. Shir Ami is a young, dynamic congregation, proudly committed to the philosophy of the Reform movement with a special reverence for Jewish tradition. Shir Ami means "song of my people."
